No Dueling Banjos at this House

Oh there are no dueling banjos at this house.

Try instead: dueling vacuums!

Last year one of the children wanted a vacuum.  So we bought her a cheap little vacuum that "works." Keep in mind "works" is a relative term that simply means it's a vacuum, it turns on, and the kids feel like they are helping but really it isn't functional!  What it does do is teach them to start doing chores around the house - and that is well worth the less than $20 price tag of a cheap vacuum!

The Rule of Rules

Rule making among the children goes like this:

The 7 year old makes the rule for all the children to follow.

The 5 year old makes an amendments to the rule.

Then 7 year old makes an amendment to the amendment.

The 5 year old and the 7 year old then debate the rules.

The first rule is struck down and replaced with a different second rule that bears a striking resemblance to the first rule.

The rule is then amended by the 5 year old.

Then the rule is amended again by the 7 year old.

The rule is finally accepted by both parties and ratified.

Then the 2 year old ignores all the rules...

Sound familiar?

Abbott and Costello Meet Vanilla Ice

Yeah you wouldn't think it possible but in the dinner time conversation arena pretty much anything goes.  One tangent leads to another then you find yourself showing the kids videos on YouTube of Abbott and Costello doing their "Who's on First" act and demonstrating how bad Vanilla Ice really is as a music artist!  Can I even use the word artist to describe Vanilla Ice?

With that let's post a video of Abbott and Costello's 'Who's on First" comedy act.  It's a classic and these days we can all use a laugh!

The Land of Laundry

Parent-land:

Where children helping with laundry looks something like this...

While attempting to help me with the laundry the children decided to grab handfuls of clothes to take them to their room - then fold them. Nevermind that there was a laundry basket available!

You've been there haven't you?

Never Fails (Parent-land Update #1)

It never fails, after a parent utters the words "be careful" a head injury occurs.
